Communication skills improved

Context: This project came as a response to a reality that Europe and the world are facing in the last 2 years more than ever – lack of soft skills that show compassion, respect and love for another human being and lack of action in the fight and respect of human rights.

Objectives:

  • To enrich the personal development opportunities, interpersonal and personal skills and competencies, self-esteem enhancing of at least 16 participants from 5 different EU countries within a 6 days training course.
  • To create the context of experimenting methods of communication on 7 levels (Verbal Communication, Nonverbal Communication, Active Listening, Paraverbal Communication, Sensorial communication, Extra-sensorial communication, Kinesthetic communication), empowering at least 16 participants to find the proper mean of communication adapted to the context it is used and the purpose as well.
  • Getting accustomed to communicating a situation of violation of rights and also finding solution to deal with it through a variety of methods that involve debate, storytelling or theatre.
  • Develop assertiveness – developing a pro-active behavior in working with disadvantaged groups in empowering them to find the suitable communication style according to the target group they are working with.

Direct beneficiaries: 16 trainers, youth workers, social workers, and workers in the field of youth, youth leaders and project managers, tutors, mentors and volunteer coordinators and/or coordinating EVS programs from Estonia, Greece, Italy, Croatia and Spain

Activities:
Training course, 31.08.2017 – 7.09.2017, where the participants developed and improved their interpersonal communication skills, emotional intelligence, the sense of action through civic participation for human rights and who will be more aware of the communication processes they are part of in different context adapting to each need identified accordingly. The TC was focused on Verbal Communication, Nonverbal Communication, Active Listening, Paraverbal Communication, Sensorial Communication, Extra-sensorial Communication, Kinesthetic Communication. Additionally, the training course proposed methods of participation and social inclusion.

A social theater play in English, followed by a debate over current social problems in a creative and non-formal environment. The event was organized on the 6th of September 2017, with the support received from Compañía de Aguas Fuente Azul, S.L., Espacio Asamblea and of course Casa de la Juventud del Puerto de la Cruz, which has offered its space.
