LEARNING TROUGH THE SEA
The role of youth workers has become more crucial than ever in providing guidance and support to young people. To equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in their field, a transformative study visit was organized in the stunning landscapes of Iceland, from October 4 to October 10, 2022. Islandic Human Rights Center was the partner association who collaborated with this mobility, helping with logistics and ensuring a great experience to the participants. The participants engaged in a range of activities, including coordination meetings, insightful visits to youth centers and projects, and immersive experiences in vocational rehabilitation centers. They also participated in workshops, sharing knowledge about the Erasmus+ program. One of the highlights of the visit was the immersion into local youth initiatives in Iceland, where participants witnessed firsthand the impact of innovative projects. They had the opportunity to engage with local youth at Reykjavík Youth Center, Hitt Húsið, IPS Project, and Molinn Youth House. These visits provided valuable insights into the challenges and successes of youth work in different European contexts. The study visit was a resounding success, exceeding its initial goals. It equipped youth workers with a broader skill set, expanded their intercultural competence, and empowered them to make a more significant impact in their work. It also reinforced the importance of international collaboration and knowledge sharing in the realm of youth work.
